SELANGAU: A local man was killed after the lorry tanker he was driving skidded and crashed into the Simpang Mukah flyover wall earlier today.

The accident occurred shortly before 1 am, leaving the driver trapped at the waist and legs inside the vehicle following the impact.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said firefighters from Selangau station were dispatched to the scene, about 4km away, following an emergency call.

The team had to use hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate the victim.

The victim, identified as Tolles Lana, 37, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was later handed over to the police for further action.

Andy stated that firefighters carried out clean-up work at the scene before ending the operation at 3.51 am.
