ASAJAYA: A local man who was reported missing while look for mud snails (siput sedut) at Pantai Jaie, Sadong Jaya, has been found earlier today but was later pronounced dead.
The 42-year-old victim was located in a bushy area, about 500 metres from the SAR control post at around 12:50 pm, following a multi-agency search and rescue (SAR) operation.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the man, identified as Hamizan Rahmat, was initially found alive but in a weak condition.
He was later brought out of the bushy area to be taken to the SAR control post.
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at around 3:00 pm after an examination by paramedics at the scene.
His body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation was called off at 3:30 pm.

On Wednesday, Hamizan had left his home in Kampung Pindah Jaie at around 11:00 am to look for mud snails at Pantai Jaie using a bicycle.
When he failed to return home by late afternoon, his family grew concerned and alerted relatives and villagers.
Later that evening, family members and several villagers went to Pantai Jaie, where they found the victim’s bicycle abandoned in bushes near the beach.
An initial search was carried out but proved unsuccessful, prompting a police report to be lodged and a SAR operation to be launched.
