BAU: Traffic police made their presence felt on the streets on Saturday night, issuing 18 summonses to motorcyclists during a five-hour operation codenamed ‘Ops Motosikal’.

Held along Jalan Krokong-Seropak and around Bau town from 6 pm to 11 pm, the traffic police had stopped 35 motorcycles and 41 riders for inspections.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said it resulted in the issuance of 18 traffic summonses.

“The highest offence detected was missing side mirrors (four), followed by illegal license plates (three), modified exhausts (three), and riding without licenses (three).

“Aside from that, police also issued two summonses for riding with expired road tax, and one summons each for modified structure or equipment, missing front brake, and not wearing a helmet,” he said.

In light of this, Mohd Haide urged all road users, especially motorcyclists, to always obey traffic laws and prioritise their own safety.

“Parents are also advised to monitor their children to prevent them from engaging in illegal motorcycle activities,” he said.

Bau traffic police will continue regular operations and welcomed the public’s cooperation to report street racing or reckless riding at 082-763311.
