KUCHING: About 1,700 participants took part in the Sarawak Hope Run 2025, held in conjunction with the Kuching Car Free Morning (KCFM) December 2025 edition at Padang Merdeka here on Sunday.

The run was flagged off by acting Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Dolhadi Marzuki, for both the 5km and 1km categories.

Organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), the KCFM programme ran from 6 am to 10 am, drawing residents for a morning of healthy recreational activities with family and friends.

The December edition of KCFM was held simultaneously at several locations, including Padang Merdeka, Tugu Pahlawan, Pangkalan Sapi and Dataran Ibu Pertiwi.

In addition to the run, participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including Christmas-themed Aerodance, performances by Rentap Fighters and the Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (PERKATA) Children Christmas Carols, contributing to a festive atmosphere at the venue.

The Sarawak Hope Run 2025, held as part of KCFM, was jointly organised by MYSED together with the Revolution Run Borneo Club and Rentap Muaythai Club, in collaboration with DBKU, to foster an active, caring and socially responsible community.

The charity run aims to raise RM50,000, which will be channelled to four children-focused welfare organisations: the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children’s Home, PERKATA, the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia (CWS) and the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).

The programme concluded with a prize presentation for the top 10 runners, a mock cheque presentation, a lucky draw and a communal meal.
