KUCHING: A Christmas spiritual reflection programme was organised by the Brahma Kumaris Foundation Kuching at Sarawak General Hospital’s Multi-Faith Prayer Hall on Christmas Day (Dec. 25).

The community event, held from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, aimed to shift the focus of Christmas celebrations from commercial activities to inner peace, gratitude and selfless service.

The Brahma Kumaris Foundation Malaysia said the programme encouraged participants to experience Christmas through meditation, reflection and divine love.

“This programme invites individuals to reconnect with the spiritual essence of Christmas by cultivating stillness, compassion and inner strength through meditation,” the foundation said.

The celebration began with a one-hour guided meditation session, allowing participants to calm the mind, relax the body, and reconnect with their innate qualities of peace.

“Participants were guided to shift their attention inward, recognising themselves as peaceful beings and reconnecting with original qualities such as love, joy, wisdom and purity,” it said.

The meditation session emphasised absorbing powerful vibrations of peace and strength, enabling participants to experience calmness, stillness and renewed emotional balance.

Following the meditation, organisers shared the spiritual significance of Christmas, highlighting the importance of giving, service and compassion beyond material exchanges.

“As part of the outreach effort, gifts were distributed to patients and nurses at Sarawak General Hospital, symbolising care, gratitude and appreciation for frontline caregivers.

The session also included a “mind-service” meditation, encouraging participants to radiate peaceful thoughts to patients, caregivers, doctors and the wider world.

“Such practices help foster emotional resilience, collective harmony and healing, especially in healthcare environments facing daily challenges,” it said.
