BINTULU: Residents of Kampung Warisan Jepak have been urged to strengthen unity and resolve issues at the village level to preserve harmony within the community.

Village head Tornychan Warimin said any shortcomings, whether involving himself or members of the village committee, should be discussed openly and with an open heart.

“It is better to address issues directly than to raise them behind the scenes in ways that could undermine community unity,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Kampung Warisan Jepak Family Day and Sports Carnival 2025 held at the village futsal court on Saturday.

He also advised residents against lodging unfounded complaints with external parties such as elected representatives or the Bintulu Administration without first attempting to resolve matters through village-level channels.

According to Tornychan, the Kampung Warisan Jepak community had faced various challenges throughout 2025, making solidarity and a strong family spirit among residents increasingly important.

He said the motto “Kampungku, Keluargaku” (My Village, My Family) should serve as a guiding principle in resolving issues at the village level.

In a related development, he said an application to upgrade the Kampung Warisan Jepak futsal court would be submitted to Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for consideration, particularly to support youth facilities and community sports activities.

The event featured activities such as a karaoke singing competition and lucky draws and was attended by the Bintulu MP’s special officers, Steven Kong Kai Seng and Azman Abdul Rahman.

The Family Day and Sports Carnival 2025, themed “Kampungku, Keluargaku”, served as a platform to strengthen ties, foster a sense of belonging and reinforce unity among residents of all age groups.
