MIRI: A toddler was rescued safely after being accidentally locked inside a car at Kian Hin Tudan here today, following a swift response by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station were alerted to the incident at 12:10 pm after a distress call was received from the child’s mother.
The emergency involved a vehicle that had accidentally locked with a one-and-a-half-year-old boy inside.
According to Bomba, a fire rescue tender was mobilised within seconds with the engine leaving the station at 12:11 pm and arriving at the scene eight minutes later.
Upon assessment, the operation commander confirmed the presence of the child inside the locked vehicle.
Firefighters immediately conducted a size-up and deployed specialised tools to gain access to the car.
The rescue operation was completed successfully within minutes, with the child brought out safely and without injury.
The situation was brought under control by 12:26 pm.
The team, led by Lutong Fire and Rescue Station’s chief, Henry Jugah, returned to base shortly after the operation concluded.
