KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, calls for a renewed commitment to preserving peace, strengthening the spirit of unity, and contributing to Sarawak’s development as the state approaches 2026.

He said the spirit of togetherness among Sarawakians remains the state’s greatest strength as the people welcome the new year with renewed hope, confidence and commitment.

“On this meaningful evening, we gather as one big Sarawak family to welcome the arrival of 2026.

“With gratitude and joy, gatherings such as this reflect the harmony and unity of the people, values that have always been the foundation of the state we love,” he said in his New Year’s greetings during the Sarawak Countdown 2026 celebration held here on Wednesday night (Dec. 31).

Wan Junaidi also expressed pride in Sarawak’s achievements throughout 2025, particularly in the areas of economic, social and digital development.

“Throughout 2025, Sarawak has recorded significant progress. The state government’s efforts under Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 continue to bear fruit in improving the people’s quality of life and expanding opportunities in education and employment, further strengthening Sarawak’s position as a progressive and competitive region,” he said.

He stressed that these successes were made possible through the collective cooperation of the people, regardless of background, who together helped elevate Sarawak to a higher level.

Concluding his message, he prayed that the New Year would bring greater blessings, opportunities and success to all Sarawakians.

“May this New Year bring more blessings, opportunities and achievements to the people of Sarawak,” he said.
