PUSA: Residents of Beting Maro received a visit from Batang Lupar Member of Parliament (MP) Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, who took time today to connect with the local community through his ‘Ziarah Kasih’ (Caring Visit) programme, distributing food baskets to those in need.
The programme, held from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, included visits to Kampung Semarang, Kampung Spinang, Kampung Beladin and Kampung Pusa.
Seven underprivileged families received food baskets, comprising two families each from Kampung Semarang, Kampung Beladin and Kampung Pusa, and one family from Kampung Spinang.
“Programmes like this are not just about providing basic necessities. They are also a platform to strengthen relationships and foster a sense of community. Reaching out to villagers is part of my responsibility as their MP,” said Shafizan.
He added that the ‘Ziarah Kasih’ initiative would continue periodically, focusing on supporting the bedridden, senior citizens and those with chronic illnesses.
The visit was joined by local leaders such as Penghulu Musa Zin of Spinang, Semarang, and Batang Maro; Beting Maro Youth Chief Awang Nasfarini Awang Sarbini; Hilir Beladin Village Chief Awang Subhi Awang Halil; Kampung Semarang Chief Suria Azmie; Beting Maro Women Chief Hajijiah Lueng and members of the Beting Maro Youth Committee.
Residents expressed appreciation for the MP’s effort in reaching out and addressing the welfare of the community.
