KUCHING: Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) has achieved outstanding results in the National Single Rating for TVET Programmes 2025, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Under the programme conducted by the Department of Skills Development (JPK), 10 Sarawak Skills programmes were awarded the highest five-star rating.

A further 20 programmes received four-star ratings, while two programmes attained three-star ratings, reflecting the institution’s strong overall performance across its training portfolio.

Hallman Sabri

Executive Director, Hallman Sabri, said the achievement reflected the collective commitment of staff across all Sarawak Skills branches towards quality and continuous improvement.

“This achievement is the result of the unwavering dedication, discipline and teamwork demonstrated by our staff.

“The five-star ratings attained by 10 of our programmes affirm that our training delivery, governance and industry alignment meet the highest national benchmarks set by JPK,” he said.

The comprehensive evaluation was carried out throughout last year by JPK-appointed assessment panels and covered areas such as programme design, curriculum relevance, training delivery, facilities, industry engagement, governance, quality assurance mechanisms and graduate employability.

During the assessment process, the Sarawak Skills Kuching Branch was commended for its professionalism, coordination and operational efficiency.

The panels also highlighted the institution’s well-structured documentation, systematic information management and effective workflow, which contributed positively to the assessment outcome.

Hallman said the recognition serves not only as an honour, but also as motivation for Sarawak Skills to further strengthen its TVET ecosystem.

“We remain committed to enhancing programme relevance, improving training quality and ensuring our graduates are equipped with industry-ready skills that support workforce development and the economic aspirations of Sarawak and Malaysia,” he added.

In a related development, Sarawak Skills has also been accredited by JPK as a Chief Administrator (Pentadbir Induk), becoming the first home-grown, government-aligned organisation in Borneo to receive the recognition.

The accreditation recognises Sarawak Skills’ institutional capacity, with seven learning centres established across Sarawak and its ability to manage, coordinate and support multiple training institutions effectively.

As Chief Administrator, Sarawak Skills Kuching will serve as the central governing body overseeing its accredited branch centres, including ensuring standardisation, quality assurance and alignment of TVET programmes across all institutions under its purview.
