PUTRAJAYA: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail today said detailed information on allegations involving a cult from South Korea circulating recently will be disclosed after he receives an official briefing this week.

He said only verified information would be released following a briefing by the Bukit Aman Special Branch’s Social Extremism Division (E2).

“I am scheduled to be briefed this week by the Special Branch, specifically E2. On matters like this, I must be careful and cautious. I do not want to rely on multiple sources,” he told reporters after delivering the Home Ministry’s 2026 New Year Message here today.

Saifuddin Nasution said E2 is the most authoritative body, as its core role is to detect deviant teachings and extremist movements.

The minister said he welcomed public concern over the issue and assured that further updates would be shared once the official briefing is completed.

Prior to this, Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin claimed that a deviant cult from South Korea is actively operating in Malaysia. – BERNAMA
