KUCHING: Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) celebrated its 10th anniversary by awarding approximately RM55,000 in incentives to its 61 swimmers and water polo players, recognising their hard work and achievements as the club continues to grow and succeed.

Club President Pemanca Tan Kun Gee highlighted the club’s journey and resilience during the 10th Anniversary Dinner at 56 Hotel on Saturday.

In his speech, Tan reflected on the club’s humble beginnings and the challenges it faced in its early years, including limited resources, financial constraints, and uncertain prospects.

“A decade may seem short, but for us, these 10 years represent a journey filled with dedication, sacrifice, perseverance and countless unforgettable moments,” he said.

Power Aquatics was founded with a simple dream to develop young talents, promote aquatic sports, and instil discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship through swimming.

Despite obstacles, the unwavering commitment of committee members, coaches, parents, and supporters ensured the club not only survived but grew stronger over time.

Tan, who is also Amateur Swimming Association of Sarawak (ASAS) president, gave special recognition to longstanding committee members who have contributed since the club’s founding in 2016.

He also thanked the coaches for their professionalism and dedication in training swimmers to become disciplined and confident individuals.

“I am also proud to share that today, Power Aquatics is no longer just a swimming club. We have grown into a dynamic aquatic community with both competitive swimmers and water polo players representing the club. Today, our club has about 100 swimmers and 40 water polo players,” he said.

He added that this expansion reflects PASC’s commitment to growth, adaptability, and providing broader opportunities for swimmers to excel.

Acknowledging the vital role of parents and guardians, Tan expressed gratitude for their continuous trust and encouragement.

In awarding the RM55,000 incentives to 61 recipients, the club recognised the outstanding efforts and achievements of its athletes as it aims for continued success in 2025 and beyond.

“To our athletes, past and present, you are the heart and soul of Power Aquatics. Your determination and fighting spirit embody the values this club stands for,” Tan said.

Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that with unity, passion and teamwork, the club will continue to reach greater heights.

The anniversary dinner was attended by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) acting CEO Khairul Nizam Morshidi, PASC vice-president Julie Tan, PASC adviser Voon Yong Hui, parents, and athletes.
