KUCHING: Residents of Kampung Lubok Buan can now fully utilise their village hall (balairaya) following a RM100,000 Phase Two upgrade under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024, officially handed back to the community yesterday (Jan 19).

The handing-over ceremony was attended by Kota Sentosa asssemblyman Wilfred Yap, officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), village headman Michael Mada, and the appointed contractor, Azraki Resources.

The upgrade was carried out in response to feedback from villagers after Phase One works, ensuring the balairaya meets the community’s needs.

Yap said the project addressed additional concerns raised by the village leadership and residents.

“The balairaya is an important communal asset for Kampung Lubok Buan. When additional needs were raised by the village leadership and residents, we acted to ensure these concerns were addressed.

“I am pleased that the Phase 2 works under RTP 2024 have now been completed and can be fully utilised by the community,” he said.

The Phase Two works focused on improving gutters, roofing, flooring, and toilet facilities, enhancing safety, functionality, and comfort for daily use.

The village hall is now expected to serve optimally as a venue for meetings, social activities, and cultural programmes, further strengthening community cohesion.

Yap also expressed his appreciation to PWD and the contractor for delivering the project according to approved standards and timeline.

He reiterated his commitment to continue working with implementing agencies and village leadership to ensure that development projects in N12 Kota Sentosa are effectively implemented and deliver meaningful, long-term benefits to the community.

“The Sarawak Government’s people-centric and inclusive development approach places strong emphasis on listening to grassroots feedback and delivering solutions that directly benefit the people,” he said.
