SAMARAHAN: Fighters from Tempur Jerak Dekat MMA (TJD) and Klub.houz.mma delivered dominant performances at the recent Submission Grappling Competition held during the Rentap Fighting Championship, in collaboration with Hornbill Grappling BJJ.
The event, held at The Summer Shopping Mall from Jan 16 to 18, featured a total of 14 bouts and showcased high-level grappling talent from across the region.
In the Male Beginner Category, three TJD fighters emerged as gold medalists, each securing victory in decisive fashion.
Awang Adli Muizzuddin Awang Sapri, 28, captured gold with a well-executed D’Arce choke, while Azfa Nu’man Azri Harith, also 28, followed with a rear naked choke finish to claim his title.
Rounding out the trio, Awangku Muhammad Harith Awangku Ahmaddin, 27, demonstrated superior control and strategy to secure gold through match dominance.
Their strong showing reflected both technical proficiency and composure under pressure, reinforcing TJD’s growing reputation as a powerhouse in the local grappling scene.

In the Male Pro Category, Aaron Lim Phei Yung, 31, delivered one of the most memorable performances of the event.
He faced Mohd Nurjasmin, head coach of Feroce & Gorilla Thai Boxing, in a highly anticipated bout that ended decisively in under two minutes.
The match began cautiously, featuring intense grip fighting and feints of takedown attempts from both competitors, until Aaron seized the opportunity to execute a takedown and secure an armbar submission.
Associated with Studio 23—pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Sarawak and TJD, who currently dominate the mixed martial arts scene in Sarawak, Aaron also coaches at Klub.houz.mma.
TJD and Klub.houz.mma regularly engage in cross-training sessions, a collaborative approach that continues to elevate the technical standards and competitive readiness of fighters from both camps.
This shared training culture was clearly reflected in the athletes’ performances, marked by seamless transitions, sharp submissions, and strategic control.
The impressive results at the Rentap Fighting Championship underscore the depth of talent and strong coaching foundations within TJD and Klub.houz.mma.
With momentum firmly on their side, both teams are poised to continue making waves in upcoming grappling and mixed martial arts competitions across Sarawak and beyond.
