KUCHING: Police issued 48 traffic summonses and arrested two local men during a crime prevention operation carried out across the city late last night (Jan 23).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the Integrated Crime Prevention Operation ran from 10 pm to 2 am, focusing on areas under the Sentral and Sekama police stations.
“A total of 238 individuals and 222 vehicles were inspected during the operation.
“During the operation, the Counter Aggressive Team (CAT) arrested two local men along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli for offences under Section 6 of the Sarawak Minor Offences Ordinance, with several items also seized,” he said in a statement.
He added the operation formed part of proactive efforts to curb crime, enhance public safety and suppress street gangsterism.
The operation also included preventive patrols and monitoring of identified crime hotspots, with similar initiatives to continue from time to time.
