SIBU: Wong Ngieng Ming and Pio Su clinched the Open Doubles title at the SABERKAS Sports Carnival Table Tennis 2026 after emerging victorious in the final at the Pingpong Stadium, Jalan Merdeka here on Sunday (Jan 25).
The pair took home RM700 in cash, along with a trophy, medal and certificate. Lucas Wong and Lawrence Ting finished second to receive RM500 with a trophy, medal and certificate, while Ngieng Kai Yun and Ngieng Shun Yun placed third, winning RM300 with a trophy, medal and certificate. Four consolation prizes of RM50 each were also awarded.
A total of 32 teams competed in the tournament, which was part of the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Sports Carnival 2026 and organised by the SABERKAS Dudong Branch.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Political Secretary to the Premier Joshua Ting Fu Ying, representing the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Also present was SABERKAS Dudong branch chairman Tiong Sie Keong.
The carnival aims to encourage youth participation in competitive sports while promoting sportsmanship and unity within the local community.
