KUCHING: Plans to appoint the new executive committee of the Betong Division Football Association (BDFA) were delayed last Saturday (Jan 24), with the meeting now rescheduled to Feb 14.
BDFA honorary secretary Saiful Hanizam Suhaini said the postponement was due to unavoidable circumstances.
“We had to postpone the scheduled meeting recently due to reasons beyond our control.
“The rescheduled meeting will be held on Feb 14 at one of the local hotels here in Betong,” Saiful told Sarawak Tribune.
The vice president of the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) Khairulddin Qalam Daud also attended the meeting as the coordinator last weekend.
Commenting on the postponement, Qalam acknowledged that BDFA has a 30-day period to hold the meeting again.
“BDFA has 30 days to reconvene the meeting, and after that, we will know the new executive committee lineup for the 2026-2028 term,” he explained.
He believes there will be no issues for BDFA to hold the meeting within the stipulated timeframe.
“We trust that BDFA will be able to hold the meeting on the rescheduled date,” Qalam said.
The meeting scheduled for last Saturday aimed to elect the new executive committee to lead BDFA.
