Silver price hits new record of USD120 per troy ounce, gold surpasses USD5,600

MOSCOW, Russia: Silver and gold prices are up four to six per cent this morning, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

Before this, both metals reached new all-time highs, trading above USD120 (about RM475) and USD5,600 (about RM22,176) per troy ounce, according to trading data, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

As of 06:24 GMT, the March silver futures contract on the New York Comex exchange was up six per cent to USD120.28 per ounce.

Earlier today, the prices renewed their record, rising to USD120.518 per ounce.

Meanwhile, as of 06:41 GMT, the price of the April gold futures contract on the New York Comex exchange was up by USD279.31 from the previous close, to USD5,584.56 per troy ounce.

Earlier in the session, prices reached a historic high of USD5,625.89 per ounce.
