State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said this is part of efforts to strengthen the delivery of Sarawak’s government services to the people in the division.

In addition to the IAC project, Abu Bakar said there are also development plans for new district offices and government quarters in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau, Simunjan and Gedong.

According to him, previous working visits conducted together with the relevant agencies to several proposed sites had successfully identified suitable locations for the projects.

“Today we are on the ground to see for ourselves whether the sites that have been identified are indeed suitable or otherwise, and there are some suggestions and possibly changes in terms of the site areas.

“However, I am confident that once we are able to refine these matters promptly, the implementation of these projects can begin this year,” he said after conducting visits to several proposed construction sites for district offices and government quarters in Samarahan Division on Friday (Jan 30).

Elaborating further, Abu Bakar explained that the implementation period for all the projects is expected to take between 24 and 36 months.

“It may be possible for us to complete them more quickly, even ahead of schedule, if there is cooperation from all parties involved.

“We hope that once completed, these projects will provide a more conducive working environment and comfortable living quarters for our public servants in Sarawak, particularly those serving in rural areas,” he added.

During the series of visits, Abu Bakar visited the proposed IAC and quarters sites in Kota Samarahan and Asajaya, as well as the site for the new Sebuyau District Office.

In addition, he also carried out working visits to the proposed sites for the new Sub-District Office and quarters in Sadong Jaya, before proceeding to the proposed district office and quarters sites in Sebuyau, Simunjan and Gedong.
