KUCHING: Serian FA fought valiantly despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Samarahan FA in the Sarawak Premier League semi-final, with president Phillip Jabu praising the team’s resilience and congratulating the winners.

“Congratulations to Samarahan. They played strongly, and we respect their performance,” he told Sarawak Tribune pitch-side after the match on Saturday (Jan 31).

The hard-fought encounter saw Serian push their opponents throughout the match, but a decisive long-range strike from Samarahan’s experienced defender Razziman Razali in the 51st minute proved the difference.

Despite the defeat, Phillip praised the determination and fighting spirit shown by the Serian players, emphasising that the team had given their all until the final whistle.

He also expressed hope that the team would learn from their mistakes and come back stronger in future competitions.

“Samarahan are a strong side, and this experience will only make us better,” Phillip added.

Serian FA’s journey ended with pride, and the president remained optimistic about the team’s future prospects.

The Sarawak Premier League final will feature Samarahan FA against Bintulu FA, after Bintulu secured their spot with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Kuching FA earlier today (Feb 1).
