BETONG: Western Zone’s women’s cycling champion, Nur Ain Ramadhania Abdullah, continues to create a sensation at the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) IV 2026.
The 16-year-old native of Kampung Melango Baru, Saratok, triumphed in the Women’s Criterium (40 km) race.
She outpaced two challengers representing the Northern Zone – Nurfara Ain Nabiela Abdullah, who won the silver medal, and Naina Adriana Idris, who took bronze.
This marks the fifth gold medal for the protégé of head coach Ahmad Joyo Mohd Sanusi after three days of competition.
“I am truly happy and did not expect to win another gold medal given the intense pressure throughout the race earlier. However, this fifth gold medal is very meaningful to me at this event,” Nur Ain said.
Nur Ain Ramadhania had previously won four gold medals earlier in the Road Race (106 km), Team Road Race (106 km), Individual Time Trial (ITT 27 km), and Team Time Trial (TTT 54 km).
Ahmad Joyo also shared his joy over his protégé’s success.
“Congratulations to Nur Ain Ramadhania for winning five gold medals so far. It’s an incredible achievement considering we only had two weeks of preparation, but it has produced outstanding results beyond expectations,” said Ahmad Joyo.
He added that he hopes Nur Ain can continue to collect medals on the final day of the race.
Meanwhile, Nur Ain aims to broaden her credentials by taking on greater challenges.
She is eyeing the opportunity to represent Sarawak at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2026, which will be held in Selangor.
“This is my first time competing in SUKSAR IV, and I have never represented Sarawak at SUKMA before. I hope to be selected for the team,” Nur Ain explained.
Nur Ain participated in several prestigious overseas races last year, including the Olympic Talent Carnival Series 1 in Terengganu, where she won bronze in the Team Time Trial event, and the Malaysian Youth Cycling Race in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
