BINTULU: The cargo of a lorry caught fire along the Bintulu-Miri Coastal Road here today (Feb 9), though the vehicle itself was spared from damage.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident was reported at 3.49 pm, with firefighters from Samalaju arriving at the scene four minutes later.
“The fire involved the lorry’s cargo, comprising delivery hoses, which were completely burnt,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
Firefighters deployed two hose lines to extinguish the blaze and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the lorry.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
The operation was brought under control at 3.55 pm and concluded at 4.01 pm, involving five personnel and one fire engine.
