LUMUT: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi inspected Malaysia’s maritime defence assets during an official visit to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut on Monday (Feb 9).
The visit included inspections of several key facilities around the RMN Lumut base, including the operational area at the Advanced Mission Support Ship (AMSS) Operations Jetty and KD Indera Sakti, which is scheduled to sail to India the following day to take part in the Major 2026 Indian Navy Events (MILAN/IFR) in Visakhapatnam.
During the visit, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were briefed by the Chief of Navy Admiral Tan Sri (Dr) Zulhelmy Ithnain, on RMN’s operational capabilities and the role of its assets in safeguarding national maritime security.
Also present was Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, who is also the accompanying minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and others.
Earlier, the official visit began with a Main Guard of Honour ceremony at the Western Fleet headquarters as a mark of the highest respect to TYT Sarawak, before proceeding to the Istana Hinggap Sultan Selangor (Jugra) for the signing of the official visitors’ book and an RMN operational briefing.
