KUCHING: A group of students from Mas Gading Community College (KKMG) gained practical exposure to integrity issues and digital technology through an academic visit to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Kuching and Pustaka Sarawak recently.
According to a press release from KKMG, the visit involved 27 students accompanied by six lecturers as part of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption course aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of ethical values and professional responsibility.
The delegation comprised 20 second-semester Certificate in Information Technology (STM) students and seven third-semester students, with the programme designed to provide early exposure to the importance of integrity, trust and the societal impact of corruption.
Led by Integrity and Anti-Corruption course lecturer, Suriani Su’aidi, the group was received by MACC Senior Superintendent, Maini William, and other senior officers, where students attended a briefing on the roles and functions of the commission in combating corruption.
During the session, Assistant Superintendent Azmizam Abdullah delivered a presentation highlighting ongoing efforts to cultivate a culture of integrity within society, while emphasising the importance of awareness among young people entering the workforce.
The academic visit continued in the afternoon at Pustaka Sarawak in support of students’ Web Development subject, where participants were introduced to website development processes and database management aligned with current digital technology needs.
Students were welcomed by librarian, Jassalini Jamain; administrative officer, Musa Ayub; and library assistant, Nurfazirah Arzmi; and were also given practical demonstrations on website development to enhance their understanding beyond classroom learning.
