KUALA LUMPUR: Police confirmed that a viral video showing a four-wheel-drive vehicle ramming into a motorcycle ridden by a man in Kampung Sungai Jernih in Kajang, Hulu Langat, Selangor, on Thursday (Feb 12) did not involve elements of gangsterism or racial issues.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said initial investigations found that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute related to land matters and lorry access routes in the area.

“Investigations revealed that the incident arose from a series of disagreements between the two parties, and we have received two separate police reports under Sections 307/279 of the Penal Code as well as Sections 395/365 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Shazeli said both parties involved had lodged police reports and five men, including a foreign national aged between 24 and 38, were arrested to assist in the investigation.

He also advised the public not to take matters into their own hands in ways that contravene the law and urged them not to spread speculation that could disrupt public order.

“Police will take action in accordance with the law against anyone who engages in acts that threaten public safety and order,” he said.

A 16-second video showing a four-wheel-drive vehicle colliding with a motorcycle went viral on Thursday, along with images accompanied by captions alleging that threats had been received. – BERNAMA
