BETONG: The rapid development of infrastructure, coupled with targeted welfare initiatives, highlights the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of its people.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas emphasised that the state’s development is progressing at a fast pace.
“The strength of Sarawak’s people’s unity is a key foundation for the state’s development success, enabling various government assistance programmes to reach all target groups – from farmers and students to senior citizens and low-income groups,” he said during the launch of the KPWK Community Outreach Programme in collaboration with strategic partners, titled ‘Kamek Prihatin, Kitak Penting’ at the Spaoh Community Hall today.

He highlighted recent achievements, including the completion of eight bridges last year and nine more bridge projects set to be completed this year, alongside increasing state revenue.
He also expressed confidence that with strong unity and cooperation, the government’s planned programmes and development projects will continue to benefit Sarawak’s people.
The outreach programme enables residents to access various services efficiently.
Eligible applicants could receive the Kenyalang Gold Card on-site, while identity card address changes and other applications were processed quickly. Health screening services were also provided.
The programme also highlighted local needs, including proposals for the establishment of the Betong One-Stop Early Intervention Centre (OSEIC), faster welfare application processes, and efforts to improve technology access in rural areas.
Additionally, symbolic presentations were held for initiatives such as Maternity Assistance (BIS), Sarawak Endowment Fund (EFS), Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) and Medical Assistance, alongside Chinese New Year hampers.
Meanwhile, Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said such programmes are strategic platforms to deliver information, facilitate access to assistance and strengthen networks between ministries and strategic partners.
“The hands-on approach through outreach programmes is believed to strengthen the relationship between the government and local communities, in line with the state’s inclusive development aspirations so that no citizen is left behind in the progress,” she said.
