ISTANBUL, Turkiye: Turkish police have arrested 17 of the 25 suspects sought in a new wave of drug-related investigation raids, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said today, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
Among those detained are popular rock band Duman’s lead singer Kaan Tangöze, pop singer Murat Dalkılıç, an actor, a model and several business figures, dpa added citing state news agency Anadolu.
Police found marijuana during the raids and are hunting for the remaining eight suspects.
The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said on the social media platform X that a detention warrant had been issued for 25 people on charges including buying, possessing, taking drugs and facilitating drug use.
If convicted, the offenders face prison sentences of up to five years under Turkish law. – BERNAMA-dpa
