KOTA BHARU, Kelantan: Two brothers, including a Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel, are feared drowned after they went missing at Pantai Kandis in Bachok on Tuesday afternoon.

Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer Khairul Faiz Ariffin, said the department received a call about the incident at 5.29 pm and arrived at the scene at 6.07 pm.

“On arrival at the beach, we found that two brothers, Ahmad Badrul Naim Abdul Wahab, 32, and Ahmad Nuruddin Abdul Wahab, 21, had gone missing and are believed to have drowned.

“One of the victims is a JBPM officer from the Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Station. The brothers had been at the beach with family members but went missing after rescuing their nephew, who was believed to have been drowning,” he said in a statement.

He said nine firefighters from the Bachok station were deployed to search the shoreline, but the victims have yet to be found, and the operation is ongoing.

“The search operation also involved the Water Rescue Team from the Pengkalan Chepa and Pengkalan Kubor fire stations,” he added. – BERNAMA
