KUCHING: The Ramadan Bazaar continues to draw encouraging responses from visitors, with many expressing satisfaction over the wide variety of food, manageable spending and stable prices this year.
For Sharifah Mordiah Syed Ali, 39, a Welfare Department officer, visiting the bazaar has become a meaningful annual routine for her family.
She shared that she usually looks for traditional lauk-pauk such as ayam percik, gulai kawah and a selection of kuih-muih for dessert.
According to her, the bazaar offers convenience as she can purchase different dishes in one place without having to cook after a long day at work.
In terms of spending, Sharifah said she allocates around RM60 to RM80 per visit, depending on her family’s cravings.
She described the amount as reasonable and still within her Ramadan budget.
“Compared to last year, I felt that most items remain fairly priced, with only slight increases on certain dishes. However, I understand that rising costs of ingredients may affect traders. Overall, I believe the bazaar still offers good value for money,” she said.
Meanwhile, Intan Alyanni Mohd Zainal Abidin, 23, an intern teacher, said she enjoys exploring both traditional and modern dishes at the bazaar.
She often looks for murtabak, roti john and refreshing drinks such as air balang to break her fast.
“For me, the bazaar is not just about buying food but also experiencing the lively Ramadan atmosphere,” she said.
Intan shared that she usually spends between RM25 and RM40, as she buys mainly for herself.
She feels that the prices are still affordable for young working adults like her.
Although she noticed minor price adjustments compared to last year, she considers them reasonable and believes the portion sizes remain satisfying.
For Nadiatul Nadiyah Mazaib, 28, a housewife, the bazaar serves as a convenient option, especially on busy days.
She said she typically looks for lauk such as grilled fish, sambal dishes and traditional kuih for her family.
As a mother managing household expenses, she is mindful of her spending and usually allocates around RM50 per visit.
“I observed that while some prices have slightly increased, they are still within a manageable range. I appreciate that many traders maintain quality and freshness, which makes the purchase worthwhile,” she said.
In her view, the Ramadan Bazaar continues to uphold its role as a vibrant and affordable gathering spot for the community during the holy month.
