SARATOK: Two local men were arrested after testing positive for drugs during integrated crime prevention operations conducted by the Saratok district police on Thursday (Feb 19).
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrests were made at Jalan Lubok Nitik between 3 pm and 6 pm under ‘Ops Bersepadu’.
He said police stopped a vehicle in suspicious circumstances during a patrol and inspected its two male occupants.
“Urine screening tests conducted on both suspects returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
The first suspect, aged 25 from Sungai Stok, Sarikei, has three previous narcotics records.
The second suspect, aged 23 from Taman Seroja Indah here, has one prior narcotics record.
A total of 17 personnel were involved in the operations, which focused on crime hotspots including Jalan Pan-Borneo and surrounding market, village and residential areas in Kabong, Saratok and Roban.
During the operations, police inspected 30 individuals and 25 vehicles, and issued 18 traffic summonses.
