SERIAN: A total of RM1.81 million in Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocations was presented to 98 recipients during the Monthly Casual Meet-and-Greet Programme with Balai Ringin state assemblyman, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, held at the Balai Ringin Depot on Monday (Feb 23).
In his speech, Snowdan said that the substantial allocation reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that community-level development remains a priority.
He said the MRP allocations are not merely financial assistance, but also a trust and mandate from the government to village leadership and educational institutions to plan and implement programmes that directly benefit the people.
“We want every village, every school and every community organisation to move in tandem with the state’s development progress. No one should be left behind in enjoying the progress planned by the government,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of managing the allocations transparently, with integrity and with a focus on the actual needs of the people so that the benefits can be felt comprehensively.
For the record, the programme not only serves as a platform for delivering assistance but also opens space for two-way dialogue between the people and their elected representative to discuss development issues, welfare and local needs.
Organised by the Balai Ringin Service Centre, the programme brought together about 250 local residents comprising village chiefs, chairpersons of Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), Women’s Bureaus, Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) presidents, as well as church representatives from around the Balai Ringin area.
The programme also saw MRP cheques presented to 98 recipients, including JKKKs, village Women’s Bureaus, school PIBGs and church representatives across the Balai Ringin constituency, in an effort to strengthen grassroots development in rural areas.
Also present were Mohammad Adam Muslim (Officer-in-Charge of the Balai Ringin Sub-District Office), Stanley Randy (Administrative Officer of the Pantu District Office representing the Pantu District Officer), Penghulu Lama Bungkol and Penghulu Jeli Lebat.
