Sabah flood evacuees remain unchanged at 5,017

KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah sheltering at 32 temporary relief centres across three affected districts remained unchanged at 5,017 people as of 8 am today.

The Sabah Disaster Management Secretariat, in a statement, said there was little change in the number of evacuees accommodated at the relief centres compared with figures recorded at 8 last night.

“The number of evacuees in Pitas remained unchanged at 2,701 this morning. A total of 2,071 evacuees are sheltering in Paitan, while 245 are in Tawau,” it said, adding that 86 villages have been affected by the floods.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms in several interior areas of Sabah this morning, afternoon, and evening.– BERNAMA
