KUCHING: The Ministry of Health (MoH) will expedite the construction of the Betong Health Clinic (Type 3), the Betong Divisional Health Office, and staff quarters valued at nearly RM78 million.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said based on the current pre-implementation status, the tender advertisement for the 12th Malaysia Plan development project is expected to be issued in the fourth quarter of 2026, while the Letter of Acceptance is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027 after complete and detailed technical reports are prepared.
She said to ensure the Design and Build tender process is carried out transparently, efficiently, and on schedule, the MoH, together with the Public Works Department (JKR), has established project monitoring committees at the ministry and implementing agency levels.
“The procurement process complies with the guidelines and procedures in force with a clear schedule involving tender closing dates, evaluation, and award, in addition to regular monitoring through coordination meetings and project progress reports,” she said in response to a question from Betong MP Datuk Dr Richard Rapu in the Dewan Rakyat.
Hanifah added that proactive measures have also been taken to address constraints in soil investigation work in Sarawak.
She noted that this includes early coordination with technical agencies and local authorities, the appointment of experienced consultants or contractors, and the implementation of work in phases alongside the preparation of the preliminary design.
Hanifah explained that close monitoring at the project site is also carried out to ensure any issues can be addressed without affecting the overall schedule.
The MoH emphasised its commitment to ensuring the development project is implemented according to plan through comprehensive monitoring at the district, state, and federal levels, including through State Development Action Committee Meetings and cooperation with the relevant agencies.
Also, the use of the MyProjek digital monitoring system will allow the implementation status to be identified in real-time, enabling immediate intervention actions to be taken.
