KUCHING: The Kuching Division Chess Association (PCBK) will organise the ‘Kongsi Raya Blitz Chess 2026’ on March 7, 2026, Saturday, starting at 8 am at SMK DPHA Gapor, Kuching.
The event, held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations and the month of Ramadan, aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds through chess while promoting unity, strategic thinking, and a healthy lifestyle.
PCBK recently paid a courtesy visit to Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, to promote the event.
He welcomed the initiative and expressed his full support for efforts to strengthen community unity through mind sports.
Open to all age groups, the tournament will follow a 7-round format with a 5+3 time control (five minutes plus a three-second increment). The programme is expected to conclude around 1 pm.
Participants will compete for total prizes of up to RM1,500, and all entrants will receive a digital certificate of participation.
The participation fee is RM20 for PCBK members and RM30 for non-members, payable to
Persatuan Catur Bahagian Kuching, Account No. 1018 0001 1884 at Affin Bank.
