KUALA LUMPUR: ‘Anak Sarawak’ residing in Peninsular Malaysia were celebrated at the ‘Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026’ event organised by Yayasan Sarawak, which was held in a warm and meaningful atmosphere at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The event, held on Saturday night (Feb 28), brought together Sarawakians living in the peninsula in the spirit of Ramadan, fostering togetherness and a strong sense of community.

The event was graced by Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

Also in attendance were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his daughter Dayang Norjihan, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof and his wife Datin Amar Ruziah Mohd Tahir, Federal and Sarawak Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Director of Yayasan Sarawak, Datuk Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin.

The programme also featured the presentation of ‘duit raya’ contributions by Yayasan Sarawak to selected recipients, reflecting the foundation’s continued commitment to supporting the welfare of students and the Sarawakian community living away from home.

The organisation of the event underscores the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment through Yayasan Sarawak to strengthen community networks, safeguard student welfare and nurture a spirit of togetherness, ensuring that Sarawakians continue to feel close to their home state despite being far from it.
