SEBUYAU: The establishment of a Mini E-Commerce Hub at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Sampat is set to open a new chapter for local micro-entrepreneurs in expanding their market reach through digital platforms.
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said the facility is provided by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) to benefit micro-entrepreneurs involved in agriculture, fisheries and various other sectors in the area.
He said the facility is also open to businesses based on the latest technologies or those applying digital solutions in their operations and marketing strategies.
“As such, the Mini E-Commerce Hub at RTC Sampat, Sebuyau will serve as a platform for implementing various entrepreneurship development programmes that can be utilised by small entrepreneurs throughout Sebuyau, not limited to Sebangan and Sampat,” he said when speaking at the Ziarah Ramadan and Corporate Social Responsibility Programme at Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Sampat today.
Julaihi added that the RTC Sampat building is strategically located along the Sebuyau-Sebangan coastal road.
“I hope this facility will truly be utilised, especially by youths who are interested in venturing into entrepreneurship and business in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, when met after the programme, he said the initiative was a collaboration between the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) and SDEC in delivering Aidilfitri contributions and Ramadan assistance this year.
He said through the programme, which was held at Masjid Darul Aman Sebangan and Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Sampat, basic food baskets were distributed to asnaf recipients, while duit raya was also presented to schoolchildren in the area.
“Although Aidilfitri is still about three weeks away, I believe this assistance will help ease the burden of the identified asnaf recipients. I am confident that this contribution is meaningful to them, especially in this blessed month,” he said.
Earlier in the morning session at Masjid Darul Aman Sebangan, 60 contributions were presented to asnaf recipients from Kampung Menek, Kampung Lutong and Kampung Arus Melayu.
In addition, 30 pupils from Sekolah Kebangsaan Haji Bujang Sebangan received duit raya.
The programme continued in the afternoon at Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Sampat, Sebuyau, where another 60 contributions were distributed to asnaf from Kampung Sampat, while 30 children from Tadika KEMAS and SeDidik Sampat also received duit raya.
Among those present were Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, MUT Gas Supply and Distribution Director Kasvenda Kassim, Sebuyau District Officer Ayuradiman Bujang, SDEC Head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations Agnes Nyelang, and Samarahan Integrated Development Agency (IRSDA) Special Administrative Officer Anuar Da’an.
