MERADONG: Ten Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit have been approved for the Meradong constituency, involving upgrades to schools, houses of worship and community facilities in the area.
All projects are now under the supervision of the Sarikei Division Public Works Department (JKR) for implementation.
Meradong state assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, conducted a work visit to several project sites on Tuesday to assess ground conditions and coordinate technical aspects with relevant agencies, to ensure smooth and timely execution.
Among the approved projects are the construction of a new parking area at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanah Putih (RM50,000), a roofed structure for Tadika Methodist Bintangor (RM200,000), and drainage facility upgrades at SJKC Ming Tee (RM50,000).
Also included are upgrades to Masjid Al-Falah Sungai Gemuan (RM60,000) and the construction and improvement of multipurpose halls at Rumah Panjang Jawi, Rumah Panjang Grinang Sungai Mador, and Rumah Panjang Vicky Skim B Meradong.
School safety improvements will also be carried out at SJKC Tong Hua, SJKC Min Daik and SK Sungai Mador, including fence and facility upgrades.
According to Ding, the implementation of these RTP projects is not merely about upgrading physical infrastructure, but represents a long-term investment in community well-being.
He emphasised that facilities such as improved drainage systems, sturdy school fences, and comfortable multipurpose spaces can enhance safety levels, empower community activities, and create a positive impact for future generations.
In addition, he stressed that rural development will continue to be a priority agenda in line with the state development policy, which emphasises balanced growth between urban and rural areas.
