SELANGOR: Approximately 2,300 Fujianese from across the country gathered for the 23rd Annual Chinese New Year Gathering of Fujian (Hokkien) compatriots in Malaysia, held at Xianjing Ancient City in Setia Alam, on Feb 28.

The event, hosted by the Federation of Fujian Associations of Malaysia and organised by the Federation of Zhangzhou Associations of Malaysia, featured 230 tables.

Federation of Zhangzhou Associations of Malaysia’s Deputy President, Rodger Chan Siong Boh, said the gathering brought together Fujian compatriots from various states to celebrate the Spring Festival.

A notable number of Hokkiens from Sarawak were also present at the celebration.

The annual gathering serves as a platform to strengthen ties among Fujianese associations in Malaysia while fostering unity and cultural heritage preservation within the community.
