KUCHING: A three-year-old boy with multiple health conditions has received vital support from local NGO Hope Place Kuching, just days before the start of Ramadan, following a referral from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Aryan Hazimi Nazri, from Matang, lives with his parents and three older siblings.

He is battling several serious illnesses, including pneumonia, an artery condition, and Global Development Delay (GDD) syndrome.

SGH social workers reached out to Hope Place after learning that Aryan’s family needed assistance with his ongoing medical and nutritional care.

Since birth, Aryan has faced repeated lung inflammation and frequent hospitalisations due to pneumonia.

At just one year old, he relied on an oxygen machine for eight months to support his breathing.

His mother also revealed that he underwent surgery when he was only four months old.

Despite these challenges, Aryan is known as an active and cheerful child, quickly winning over the Hope Place team during their visit.

However, hospital dieticians have found that Aryan is malnourished, despite his healthy appetite, and have recommended special milk supplements to improve his condition.

Aryan’s father, Nazri, 46, works as a lorry driver and is the family’s sole breadwinner.

His modest income is often insufficient to cover daily expenses and medical costs for the six-member household.

The family faces additional challenges, as Aryan’s eldest brother, Yusur, 17, has an intellectual disability, holds a disability card, and attends a special education class (PPKI).

Aryan’s sister, Dania, 14, also helps at home with household chores and occasionally cares for Aryan.

To ease the family’s burden, Hope Place is providing Aryan with special milk supplements and children’s diapers, along with ongoing food aid and school stationery for his siblings.

Members of the public who wish to contribute or seek further information can contact Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) at 082 505 987 or 013 567 2775.

Donations can also be made via Maybank account 5112 8900 1160, or through the organisation’s Facebook page using its Sarawak Pay / S PAY GLOBAL QR code.

Hope Place said all donations are welcome and receipts will be issued upon request.
