KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has channelled RM50,000 to the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church Landeh to support improvements to its facilities and strengthen community activities in the Batu Kitang constituency.

The allocation was presented by Batu Kitang assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, during a handover ceremony held at the church today.

Lo said the assistance aims to help the church upgrade its existing facilities to provide a more comfortable, safe and conducive environment for congregants to carry out religious activities and community programmes.

He added that the initiative through UNIFOR reflects the Sarawak Government’s unique approach in ensuring that religious communities of all faiths receive the support they need.

“The continued assistance to houses of worship also demonstrates the state government’s concern for the wellbeing of the people while fostering mutual respect among Sarawak’s diverse religious and cultural communities,” he said in his speech.

Lo stressed that houses of worship play an important role beyond religious functions, serving as community hubs that strengthen social ties and promote unity among residents.

He expressed hope that the allocation would be utilised effectively by the church management to enhance its facilities for the benefit of congregants and the surrounding community.

He also thanked the church leadership and local community for their cooperation and commitment in maintaining harmony in the multi-religious society of Batu Kitang.
