KANOWIT: The state government will take over the Nanga Dap to Nanga Jagau logging road to improve connectivity and ease transportation for rural residents in the Ngemah constituency.

Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said the initiative is part of key development efforts in the area to ensure better road access and connectivity for the people.

Speaking at a Leaders with the People programme held at Rumah Fergerson Paul, Jih, on Saturday, he also said the Nanga Ngungun-Nanga Bat-Nanga Jagau road project is progressing and that the Sedaya ferry service is already operating.

Meanwhile, Anyi announced that a Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) workshop will be held on March 12 at the Kanowit District Office to help streamline the implementation of development projects in the area.

He also encouraged Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) interested in applying for RTP projects, Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants and the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) to contact officers at the Ngemah Service Centre.

During the event, Anyi also approved an RTP allocation of RM100,000 to replace the roof of Rh. Fergerson Paul, with the project to be supervised by the Public Works Department (PWD) Sibu Division.

Additionally, he announced an MRP grant of RM5,000 for the JKKK of Rh. Fergerson Paul and RM3,000 for the longhouse Women’s Bureau to support their annual activities.

On education, he highlighted the Ngemah constituency’s one-off academic incentive scheme for outstanding students: RM300 for those who score at least three As in SPM, RM500 for Diploma students and RM1,000 for Bachelor’s Degree students.
