Man jailed four months for trespassing into home to steal longan

MIRI: A 40-year-old local man has been sentenced to four months’ imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court here after admitting to criminal trespass at a house in Permyjaya.

The offence occurred at about 7pm on Feb 26 at a residence in Lorong 8, Bandar Baru Permyjaya.

According to the facts of the case presented in court, the accused had climbed over the rear fence of the complainant’s house and entered the compound with the intention of taking longan fruit growing inside the property.

However, his actions were noticed by the homeowner. The complainant, assisted by his son, managed to detain the man before contacting the police.

Officers later arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect for further investigation.

The case was investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which deals with criminal trespass.
