KUCHING: The Serikin Immigration Post and Quarters Construction Project in Bau is scheduled for completion by 9 December 2027.
According to a Facebook post by the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD Sarawak) today, the project, which began on 10 December 2025, is designed not only to enhance border surveillance but also to support security and development in the border area for the benefit of the local community.
“This initiative improves border surveillance efficiency while supporting security and the development of the border area for the benefit of residents,” the post said.
“The Serikin Immigration Post and Quarters Construction Project will benefit both residents and visitors by enhancing security and control in the border area. A better-organised post and staff quarters will enable immigration officers to perform their duties more efficiently and monitor border movements systematically.”
The project includes the construction of a surau (prayer hall), canteen and toilets, four Class G staff quarters, and two guard posts, along with associated works.
Beyond strengthening border security, the initiative is expected to contribute to the well-being of the local community, support border economic activities, and provide a safer, more secure environment for the public.
