KUCHING: Jordan Lim Jun How emerged champion of the Kongsi Raya Blitz Chess 2026 tournament held at SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor here on Saturday.
Wan Mohd Azmie Wan Abd Rahim finished as first runner-up while Stanley Hii Lik Ung secured third place in the fast-paced blitz competition organised by the Kuching Division Chess Association (PCBK).
The tournament attracted 86 participants from various age groups, reflecting growing interest in chess as a competitive mind sport in the community.
Special category winners were Jonas Lee Sze Hao (Best Under-18), Xander Low Zern Thung (Best Under-12), Megan Ho Xing Ern (Best Female Player) and Lim Kian Hwa (Best Veteran).
Meanwhile, PCBK president Chuang Kuang Hong announced that the Sarawak Unity Moves Chess Week 2026 will be held from April 3 to 6 at The Spring Shopping Mall.
The four-day programme will feature blitz and classical tournaments, chess exhibitions and training sessions aimed at strengthening the chess community in Sarawak.
