BAU: Police have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Kampung Kranji here.
Bau police chief Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspect was detained following a report lodged by the victim at about 3.56pm on Monday (Mar 9).
He said initial investigations found the incident allegedly took place at a house in Kampung Kranji in November last year.
“The victim became acquainted with the suspect through the TikTok application in November 2025. After several days of communicating, the suspect invited the victim to his house in Kampung Kranji, Bau, claiming he wanted her to meet his parents.
“However, upon arriving at the house, no one else was present. The suspect then asked the victim to enter his bedroom where they talked before an incident occurred between them.
“Following the incident, the victim ended her relationship with the suspect in December 2025,” he said.
The victim, who was 16 at the time, later sought treatment at a clinic in February after experiencing vomiting and fever.
She was subsequently referred to the obstetrics and gynaecology specialist at Sarawak General Hospital, where examinations confirmed she was three months pregnant.
The unemployed suspect is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
He will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in investigations.
