KUCHING: A total of 131 flood evacuees from 28 families have been housed at two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) here following flooding in several areas today (March 10).

According to the latest disaster update by the Civil Defence Force (APM) at 4 pm, the centres are Dewan R-Piang in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, which was opened at 11.45 am, and Dewan Masyarakat Stapok, opened at 1.30 pm.

Dewan R-Piang is currently sheltering 87 evacuees from 18 families, while 44 evacuees from 10 families are housed at Dewan Masyarakat Stapok.

Sarawak APM said the evacuation trend is increasing as continuous rain affects several low-lying areas in the district.
