SIBU: The Iftar Perdana programme organised by Masjid Darul Firdaus at Jalan Apollo here recently was held successfully in an atmosphere full of brotherhood and blessings in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.
The event brought together over 400 worshippers, community leaders and donors who joined together to enliven the breaking of fast event at the mosque.
Masjid Darul Firdaus chairman Junaidi Mohamad Mokhtar expressed his highest appreciation and gratitude to all parties who attended and provided support to make the programme a success.
He also welcomed the presence of worshippers and guests of honour who took the time to join in enlivening the event.
Among them was Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, who is also Pelawan assemblyman.
Also in attendance were Sibu Youth and Sports Department officer Melvin Chambai Gurang; Tradewinds Plantation Berhad representative Azam Razali Atan; National Solidarity Association (PerSoNa) Sarawak Region vice-president Halmi Morsili and Neighbourhood Committee (KRT) Apollo Deshon chairman Mohamad Hafiq Kassim.
At the event, Azam presented a donation on behalf of Tradewinds to the mosque in addition to channeling assistance of RM6,000 to the Sibu Orphanage Association (PERYATIM) and RM1,500 to a tahfiz centre.
He also handed out duit raya to orphans, tahfiz students and the underprivileged who attended the event.
Moreover, KRT Apollo Deshon also channelled basic food assistance and cash donations to the underprivileged.
The donation was presented by Tiang to the eligible recipients.
The ceremony was also graced with a Khatam Al-Quran event in conjunction with this year’s Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.
Meanwhile, Junaidi hoped that programmes like this can continue to strengthen the spirit of togetherness, foster the value of love and strengthen relationships among the local community, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
