SERIAN: Police detained a local man for allegedly conducting online gambling activities at a premises here on Wednesday (Mar 11).
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus said the suspect was detained during an inspection carried out by a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team at about 5.15pm.
“Initial checks found the man to be involved in illegal online gambling activities,” he said in a statement.
Police also seized several items to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which carries a fine of up to RM100,000 or imprisonment of up to five years upon conviction.
