KUCHING: 36 recommended black belt trainees from taekwondo clubs across Malaysia are currently participating in a national coaching course with the intent to produce more certified coaches for the sport.

The course combines online lectures conducted earlier on February 26 to 27 and March 2 to March 3, followed by physical lecture and practical sessions scheduled from March 12 to 15 in Kuching.

Participants will undergo training under experienced instructors including Grand Master Khrishnamurthy Suranna, Grand Master Johnny Loke Shee Hee, Master Solaimurugan Anandayah, Master Yap Yih Tiing and Master Rusfredy Tokan Petrus.

President of Taekwondo Malaysia (WT) and Sarawak Taekwondo Association (TM/WT), Azizul Annuar Adenan, visited the training session today to observe the programme and interact with the trainees.

During the visit, Azizul emphasised the importance of producing more qualified coaches to support the continued development of taekwondo across the country.

Participants will sit for their qualification examinations between March 12 and 15, with successful candidates receiving certification as coaches under Taekwondo Malaysia.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coaching standards and further develop taekwondo at both state and national levels.

The programme is being held at the Sarawak SUKMA Taekwondo (WTF) Training Centre in Petra Jaya and is hosted by Sarawak Taekwondo Association.
