BAU: A proposal to build a multipurpose hall at SK Opar is expected to enhance educational facilities and provide a more conducive learning environment for its students.
Opar assemblyman, Billy Sujang, said facilities such as a school hall are important in supporting educational activities, co-curricular programmes and initiatives involving the local community.
He said students in rural areas should also enjoy better educational facilities in line with the government’s efforts to strengthen human capital development.
“The provision of a school hall not only gives students space to carry out assemblies and co-curricular activities, but also allows the school to organise programmes involving the local community,” he said.
Billy said this while leading a site visit to review the proposed construction of the SK Opar’s Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday.
Earlier, a handover for the completed Kampung Opar Multipurpose Hall was held as a symbol of the successful implementation of a community development project in the area.
The hall, valued at RM450,000, was built under the allocation of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), with construction starting on July 7, 2025 and completed on January 6, 2026.
The project was handed over to Dewen Giam, the headman of Kampung Opar, for use by residents for various community activities.
